John Taylor is the International Project Manager for the National Urban Poverty Reduction Programme of UNDP. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from University of California – Berkeley in 2000 and a master’s degree in Urban Planning from Harvard University in 2006. John has served as a technical advisor on urban programs and research initiatives to UN-HABITAT Indonesia, Mercy Corps Indonesia, and the Asia Foundation; he has worked in Angola, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras and Timor Leste on urban development, governance and planning issues. After moving to Surakarta, Central Java, he started a pilot community mapping project with a group of volunteers, from which, they ended up turning it into a local NGO called Kota Kita in 2010. After running this organization for eight years, he moved to Bangladesh to work for UNDP.
