BI / BAU Works: Tribeni Canal and Linear Park, Narayanganj, 2019

To revive and improve the bank of Tribeni Canal, Bengal Institute/BAU Design was entrusted by the Narayanganj City Corporation to propose a design.

Tribeni Khal is an important canal that connects the River Shitalakhya with the old Brahmaputra, as well as diverse landscapes in the eastern region of Narayanganj. The total length of the canal is 6 kilometers with 1.55 kilometers within the boundary of Narayanganj City Corporation.

Bengal Institute/BAU Design was entrusted by the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) to conceive plans for reviving the canal and reactivating its banks with new civic activities. The canal bank is conceived as a linear park with walkways and special spots — wherever a walkway is not possible due to a narrow bank, bridges are incorporated to maintain the continuity of the walkway.
