Kirsten Hackenbroch

Director, Goethe-Institut Bangladesh

Following her degree in Spatial Planning from the TU Dortmund University, Kirsten Hackenbroch completed her PhD research on the contestations and negotiations evolving around access to public space in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2012. In subsequent postdoctoral research, she focused on power relations and the resulting spatialities of transformations at the urban fringe of South Asian cities. Her current research centers on globally mobile urbanism, international migration, urban environmental policies and the respective local socio-spatial transformations with a regional focus on Asia and East Africa.

Since October 2017, she has been the Director at Goethe-Institut Bangladesh in Dhaka.
