Rezaul Karim Sumon

Art Historian

Rezaul Karim Sumon is an art historian, researcher, and part-time teacher at the Department of Drawing and Painting, University of Dhaka. Prior to that, he was an assistant professor at the Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology.

He obtained his B.A. (Hons) and M.A. degrees in Fine Arts from the University of Chittagong in 1995 and 1996 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Dhaka in 2019, with a thesis entitled ‘Sculptor Novera Ahmed: An Evaluation in the Context of Art History’.

His areas of interest include art history of the Indian subcontinent, literature, translation and film. He edits Nirman and posts on his blog at https://muktangon.blog/sumon.
