The Experience of Architectural Photography - A Lecture by Richard Schulman

The photography of architecture emboldens architects. The photographers’ images celebrates the designs by the architects. But the images also share the narrative that architecture offers.

Renowned architectural photographer Richard Schulman will share thoughts on the personality of light and how it reflects the nature of architecture.

He will also address his influences which are mostly cinema and language.

Richard Schulman has been a photographer for more than 40 years. He has traveled half the world making portraits, and making portraits of architecture and design. He has been fortunate to have photographed 35 Pritzker Prize recipients and hundreds of architects.

The portraits of artists, architects and designers have given him entry into the lives of people that are our cultural symbols and leaders. Such luminaries as Oscar Niemeyer, Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, Peter Zumthor, Zaha Hadid, Kengo Kuma and more have embraced his images of architecture.

Schulman has had 3 books published: Portraits of the New Architecture 1 and 2. and New London Architecture, His Photographs have appeared in thousands of books and publications across the globe. Schulman has participated in lectures and reviews at Yale University, Sci-Arc, Los Angeles County Museum, among dozens more. He has lectured in New York at the New School and The School of Visual Arts.
