A documentary “The Seeds of Vandana Shiva” was screened on March 17 by No Voice Passport in association with Bengal Institute. Vandana Shiva is a globally renowned activist and anti-globalisation scholar who has advocated for food sovereignty, eco feminism and organic ecological farming. Trained as a physicist and scientist, Vandana Shiva raised her voice against the multinational monopoly seed market and the practice of pesticides and fertilizers which leads to pollution and other crises. Campaigning for indigenous seed diversity and traditional agricultural knowledge, she and her team established seed banks throughout India to preserve the country’s agricultural heritage while training farmers in sustainable agricultural practices. She also founded the Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Natural Resource Policy (RFSTN), an organization devoted to developing sustainable methods of agriculture.

A panel discussion was held after the documentary presentation. It was participated by social activist and environmentalist Khushi Kabir, artist Fareha Zeba, and environmentalist lawyer Masrur Salekin. The discussion was moderated by Nusrat Sumaiya.
