Hiring: Geographic Research Associate

Name of the position: Geographic Research Associate

Department: Geographic Research Unit (GRU) at Bengal Institute for Architecture, Landscapes and Settlements.

This position reports to: Director, The Research and Design Program .

Expected commencement: July, 2026

Your profile:

1. Academic qualification: Master’s in Geography/Geospatial Science/Environmental Science
2. Writing competency: Proficient in writing scientific content in English
3. Analytical ability: Capable of analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing geographic data
4. Technical skills: Sound expertise in ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth Engine, QGIS, TerrSet, Microsoft Access, and R/Python.
5. Experience required: At least 2 or 3 years of relevant field.

Your responsibilities:

1.       Writing scientific content and full-length article
2.       Applying novel geospatial tools and techniques for geographic research
3.       Extracting geospatial data from Satellite Imagery/Topographic maps/Google Maps
4.       Managing and updating the existing spatial database
5.       Performing other tasks assigned by the director.

Required work hours: Working hours are from 10 am to 6 pm, from Sundays to Thursdays, with on-call duties on Saturdays.
