Surma Riverbank Project

Bengal Institute/BAU Design Ltd's proposal to convert the Surma riverbank into a vibrant public space.

In order to convert the northern side of Surma river into a vibrant public space, the linear part of the riverbank has been divided into a few separate zones, each with a different kind of arrangement. The first division will contain a gallery, where there can be year-long exhibitions and a pavilion from which the river’s scenic views can be experienced. Gardens and layers of green grass will cover the riverbank. A plaza and mobile food courts will occupy the next division. Apart from this, the public space will be made more vibrant with a viewing deck towards a river, a festival hall and an open stage.
