মহামারীর এই দুর্দিনে একান্ত প্রয়োজন ছাড়া ঘর থেকে বের হওয়া নিয়মবিরুদ্ধ। তবে দৈনন্দিন খাবার চাহিদা মেটানোর জন্য জীবনের ঝুঁকি নিয়ে হলেও, জনসাধারণ বাজার বা কাঁচা বাজারে যাচ্ছে। জনাকীর্ণ বাজারে যেয়ে যেন স্বাস্থ্য ঝুঁকি না নিতে হয়, তাই কাঁচা বাজার এর কিছু বিকল্প চিন্তা করা যেতে পারে। বাজারে না যেয়ে এলাকার সামনে খোলা রাস্তা জুড়ে বা খোলা মাঠে সহজে সুপরকল্পিতভাবে বাজার ব্যবস্থা পরিচালনা করা সম্ভব। প্রয়োজন শুধু কিছু কৌশলগত বিবেচনা। যেমন, ক্রেতা ও বিক্রেতাদের চলাচলের পথ আলাদা করে নির্ধারণ করা, ক্রেতাদের জন্য একমুখী চলাচল-পথ নির্ধারণ করে নির্দিষ্ট প্রবেশ ও প্রস্থানের ব্যবস্থা করা, ভীড় এড়াতে যথাযথ অপেক্ষাস্থান রাখা, বিশেষ ভাবে মালামাল সংরক্ষণ ও পরিষ্কার করার ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত করা, এবং সর্বোপরি ক্রেতা ও বিক্রেতা উভয়ের জন্য স্যানিটাইজেশনের ব্যবস্থা রাখা।
প্রয়োজনের তাগিদে যদি বাজার করতে যেতেই হয়, তবে এমন সুষ্ঠুভাবে পরিকল্পিত বাজারে যাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা থাকা উচিত যেখানে প্রবেশমুখে যথাযথ দূরত্ব বজায় রেখে অপেক্ষা করা যায়, স্যানিটাইজেশন বুথ এর মাধ্যমে সুরক্ষা নিশ্চিত করে বাজারের ভিতর যাওয়া যায়, একমুখী লাইন বজায় রেখে এক দোকান থেকে সদাই কিনে পরবর্তী দোকানে যাওয়া যায়। সর্বশেষে, সদাই কিনে আবার স্যানিটাইজেশন বুথ এর মাধ্যমে সুরক্ষা নিশ্চিত করে যথাযথ অপেক্ষাস্থান থেকে নিজ নিজ গন্তব্যে যাওয়া যায়।
Planning Safe Marketplaces in the Time of Pandemic
A pandemic as Covid-19 turns everything upside down. With lockdown in place and people forced to stay at home, the biggest challenge is the regular procurement of food. Bazars, wet markets and shopping will remain essential hubs for exchange and interaction. However such hubs need extra precautions in terms of personal safety for everyone involved there. Movement, sanitation, and layout are critical in such situations.
Bengal Institute proposes converting a street or open field into temporary “safe markets”, and presents two plans. These markets can be extensions of city corporations markets or special arrangements in various city neighbourhoods. With variations, the arrangements of these safe markets may be applied to any bazars or outdoor markets. Bengal Institute offers these plans to any organizations willing to implement.
