বেঙ্গল সুরক্ষা স্টেশন
করোনাভাইরাস এই মুহূর্তে বিশ্বজুড়ে এক আতঙ্কের নাম। প্রতিনিয়ত উত্তরোত্তর বেড়ে চলা এই রোগের ভয়াবহ সংক্রমণে পুরো বিশ্ব এক বিশাল সংকটের মুখোমুখি দাঁড়িয়ে। দেশে দেশে কোভিড ১৯ সংক্রমণ প্রতিরোধে নানা তৎপরতা চলছে। এই মহামারী মোকাবেলায় সাড়া দিয়ে বেঙ্গল ইনস্টিটিউট ফর আর্কিটেকচার, ল্যান্ডস্কেপস অ্যান্ড সেটেলমেন্টস তৈরি করেছে একটি কার্যকরী স্যানিটেশন ইউনিট “বেঙ্গল সুরক্ষা স্টেশন”। এই সুরক্ষা স্টেশনে বিশেষভাবে হাত ধোয়া, এবং একই সাথে শরীর ও জামা-কাপড়ের বহির্ভাগে লেগে থাকা জীবাণু নিষ্ক্রিয় করতে জীবাণুনাশক স্প্রে করার ব্যবস্থা থাকবে।
যে প্রতিষ্ঠান এই স্টেশন পরিচালনা করবে তাদের ব্যয়ের সঙ্গে সংগতি রেখে স্বাস্থ্য-বিভাগ কর্তৃক অনুমোদিত যেকোনো ধরনের জীবাণুনাশক এখানে ব্যবহার করা যাবে। একটি ইউনিট তৈরির খরচ প্রায় ৳৪০,০০০ (চল্লিশ হাজার) টাকা। এই সুরক্ষা স্টেশন একটানা ১২ ঘণ্টা চালু থাকলে এখানে প্রায় ৭০০ জন জীবাণুমুক্তকরন সুবিধা নিতে পারবে। হাত বা শরীর জীবাণুমুক্ত করতে ব্যবহারকারী কী সাবান বা রাসায়নিক ব্যবহার করবে তার উপর নির্ভর করে এতে জনপ্রতি খরচ পড়বে ৪ টাকা থেকে ৮ টাকার মত।
সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে সামাজিক দূরত্ব বজায় রাখা এবং ঘরে থাকার (হোম কোয়ারেন্টাইন) নির্দেশ জনগণের স্বাভাবিক চলাচল ও যাতায়াত অনেক সীমিত করে এনেছে। তবুও পেশাগত কারনে বা দৈনন্দিন জরুরি প্রয়োজনে কিছু মানুষকে বাইরে বের হতে হচ্ছে। এই পরিস্থিতিতে বেঙ্গল সুরক্ষা স্টেশন হতে পারে সেসব মানুষদের জীবাণুমুক্ত রাখার একটি কার্যকরী স্থাপনা। সচরাচর জনসমাগম হয়ে থাকে এমনসব স্থানে এ স্টেশন স্থাপন করা যেতে পারে, যেমন- কাঁচাবাজার, হাসপাতাল, ব্যাংক, থানা, কল-কারখানা, মুদি দোকান, অফিস-আদালত, শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান, অ্যাপার্টমেন্ট ভবন, হোটেল-রেস্তোরাঁ ইত্যাদি। বর্তমানে করোনাভাইরাস মোকাবেলায় যাঁরা সামনের সারিতে থেকে দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন, যেমন- ডাক্তার, নার্স, প্যারামেডিকস, স্বাস্থ্যকর্মী (হাসপাতালগুলোর সকল কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী), রাজনৈতিক নেতাকর্মী, সাংবাদিক ও সংবাদকর্মী, সেনাবাহিনী, পুলিশ, র্যাব এবং আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী সকল বাহিনীসহ অন্যরা, তাঁদের জন্যও এটা হতে পারে বাড়তি সুরক্ষা ব্যবস্থা।
সুরক্ষা স্টেশনের নকশা ও ডায়াগ্রাম এখানে সংযুক্ত আছে। এই নকশা অনুসরণ করে যেকোনো ব্যাক্তি বা প্রতিষ্ঠান এই সুরক্ষা স্টেশনটি তৈরি করতে পারবে। এক্ষেত্রে বেঙ্গল ইনস্টিটিউট পরামর্শ ও কারিগরি সহায়তা দিয়ে তাদের সাহায্য করতে পারে। পুস্তিকায় ঢাকার বিভিন্ন এলাকার জনসমাগমের স্থানগুলো চিহ্নিত করে একটি বিশ্লেষণধর্মী মানচিত্র দেয়া আছে, যে জায়গাগুলোতে এই সুরক্ষা ইউনিট স্থাপন করা যেতে পারে। বেঙ্গল ইনস্টিটিউটের মাল্টিডিসিপ্লিনারি টিম এই সুরক্ষা স্টেশনের নকশা তৈরি করেছে, এবং এর প্রটোটাইপটি নানা ধরনের নির্মাণ সামগ্রী ও জীবাণুনাশক ব্যবহার করে একাধিকবার যাচাই করা হয়েছে। গনস্বাস্থ্য বিশেষজ্ঞদের সাথে আলোচনা করে নকশা ও প্রটোটাইপ তৈরি করা হয়েছে।
Bengal Shurokkha Station
As a response to the continuing spread of COVID-19 that has upended the world, Bengal Institute for Landscapes, Architecture and Settlements has devised an effective sanitisation unit, called the Bengal Shurokkha Station. This unit can be used for washing hands and also spraying disinfectants on clothes and surfaces.
The sanitisation has been designed keeping in mind the capital cost of producing a unit, and the operational cost per person to sanitise individuals. Any permissible combination of disinfectant (as allowed and recommended by relevant health authorities) can be used in the unit according to the budget of the organisation operating the unit. It may take around ৳40,000 (forty thousand) taka approximately to make a unit. The device can be used for sanitising around 700 people over a continuous 12 hours of operation. It may take about ৳4 to ৳8 taka per use per person depending on the disinfecting solution used.
While the government instructed social distancing and home quarantines have limited people’s movements, it is still imperative for some people to go out for errands or essential tasks. In order to be able to do these, certain safety measures must be taken. The Bengal Shurokkha Station can be of help in this condition.
The unit can be a key installation in frequented public spaces such as the wet markets, hospitals, banks, police stations, factories, groceries, office buildings, schools, as well as apartment buildings, hotels, and restaurants. It can also act as an additional safety measure for people who are now working in the ‘frontline’ such as the doctors, nurses, paramedics, health personnel, political leaders and workers, journalists, law enforcement agencies and armed forces, as well as all those who are actively involved in the works related to fighting the pandemic.
The diagrams and drawings for making this device are included here; printable high resolution copies with a PDF booklet can also be downloaded for free from the links above. Any individual or organisation can take initiative to easily make their own Shurokkha Station following the diagrams. We offer help and advice for making these devices, although we are not selling the device itself. The booklet also has instructions about the possible ideal locations of installation of these devices with analytical maps pointing out public gatherings and major thoroughfares of some of Dhaka’s neighbourhoods.
The Institute’s own multidisciplinary team designed and tested the working prototypes with several trials of various construction materials and disinfectants. External experts from the public health sectors have also been consulted throughout the designing and prototyping process.
